What BattleRanker stores in your browser and why.
BattleRanker does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. The core storage below is first-party and used to make Battles, accounts and saved work function.
Essential cookies
| Name | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | Maintains the current session, including login/security state and temporary Battle/session information. | Browser session |
battleranker_voter | A random pseudonymous identifier that keeps your Battle choices separate from other visitors and lets BattleRanker build Your Ranking. | Up to 2 years |
br_wild_drafts | Remembers Wild Run drafts owned by this browser so you can get back to them. | Up to 180 days |
Optional functional storage
| Name/type | Purpose | Control |
|---|---|---|
br_functional_storage | Records whether this browser allowed persistent unfinished-ranking form recovery. | Up to 180 days |
| Local storage: ranking draft | If you choose to allow it, saves unfinished Create/Edit Ranking form text and settings on this device so they can be recovered after a reload or return. | Until successfully saved, discarded or browser storage is cleared |
Temporary browser storage
BattleRanker also uses session storage for things such as the current Quick 10/endless Battle results, mode-discovery state and return links. This information is used to provide the Battle session you requested and normally disappears when the browser session ends.
Your choice
On Create/Edit Ranking pages, BattleRanker asks whether you want persistent draft recovery. Choosing Essential only means the ranking-form draft is not saved in local storage. You can change the choice by deleting the br_functional_storage cookie in your browser and revisiting a Create/Edit Ranking page.
External services
Using Wikimedia image search or clicking a social share button takes you to or contacts an external service. BattleRanker does not set those services' cookies itself; their own policies apply when you interact with them.
